Rev. Lacy Sellars Lacy Sellars has been at First Presbyterian since September of 2010. He is a life-long Presbyterian who grew up and was confirmed at Trinity Presbyterian Church in Charlotte, NC. He graduated from Furman University in 1976 with a B.A. in Religion, then entered Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary. He lost his father to cancer that same year but his mother, Kitty Sellars, is an active member of Davidson Presbyterian Church in North Carolina. At Louisville Theological Seminary, Lacy pursued a career in hospital chaplaincy and served a year’s internship in Oklahoma City and it was there that he met Darlene High who was in the same chaplaincy training program. Darlene grew up near Lawton, Oklahoma and is a graduate of Cameron University and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas. Darlene and Lacy were married in 1979 and moved back to Louisville so he could complete his M.Div. degree. It was there that he was “converted” to parish ministry and he graduated in May of 1980. Although a North Carolina native, Lacy has served within the Synod of the Sun throughout his career. In 1980, he was ordained and installed as Associate Pastor of First Presbyterian Church in El Dorado, AR, and in 1982 he accepted a call as Pastor of First Presbyterian Church of Midwest City, OK, serving there for 13 years. During that period, Darlene became Chaplain of Midwest City Regional Hospital where she served for 12 years. Their daughter, Caroline, was born in 1987 and she is now a graduate of Rhodes College. Caroline resides in Austin, Texas. In 1995, Lacy was called as Pastor of Bellaire Presbyterian Church in Bellaire, Texas, a suburb of Houston, eventually becoming Co-Pastor of both Bellaire Presbyterian and Braeburn Presbyterian Church following a merger of the two. Deleen Davidson Our choir is directed by Ms. Deleen Davidson, a professional opera star with ongoing performances throughout the United States, Europe and Asia. As a highly successful visual & performing artist, she has balanced art and music since early childhood. Though a native of New Orleans, she spent several years abroad, studying painting and voice, and teaching in Germany and Austria through Rotary and Fullbright scholarships. Her main stage roles include numerous performances in the New Orleans Opera, the Gulf Coast Opera and in Martina Arroyo’s Prelude to Performance series in New York where she debuted in 2005. Ms. Davidson relocated to Hot Springs soon after Hurricane Katrina rearranged her life in 2005. |

Louis Menendez Louis Menendez’s is an extraordinary pianist and organist. His passion and love for chamber music began early in his career and he has had the pleasure of working with such artists as Yo Yo Ma, Raphael Druian, Jaime Laredo, Aaron Rosand, Felix Galimir, Orlando Cole, Jasha Brodsky, and renownedflutists Julius Baker and James Galway. Upon receipt of his Master of Music degree from Temple University, Mr. Menendez was invited to join the faculty of the Curtis Institute of Music and subsequently, Philadelphia’s Academy of Vocal Arts, holding both positions for a number of years. He relocated to Hot Springs from New York City in 2010 and was hired soon thereafter as First Presbyterian’s church organist. |
